Our article is about Leylet-ul Mi’rac which we will celebrate this Sunday night.

The miracle of Isra and Mir’ac happened in Mecca al Mukarramah, on the twenty seventh night of Rajab al Shareef. Allah (swt) says the following about this miracle in the Holy Quran: “Glory be to Him Who varied His servant by night from Mesjid-ul Haraam to Mesjid-ul Aksa Whose surroundings We have blessed, that We might show him some of Our signs, for He is the Hearer, the Seer.” (El Isra-1).

Prophet Muhammed (sas) being taken from Mesjid-ul Haraam to Mesjid-ul Aksa is called ISRA. This is informed with the ayah we have read above. So whoever denies this section loses his imaan. The journey from Mesjid-ul Haraam to Mesjid-ul Aksa happened on a mount named Burak. Prophet Muhammed (sas) was elevated to the first storey of the skies by an intangible lift named Mi’rac. Then He was elevated to the seventh storey of the skies over the wings of the angels. He was then elevated from there to Sidrat-ul Munteha with Cebrail (as). Beyond this point, Rasulullah (sas) travelled alone to where Allah (swt) wanted on a mount named Refref.

Allah c.c. expresses this subject in Surat-un Najm by the following: “Then he approached and came nearer, till he was two bows’ length, or even nearer. And Allah revealed to his servant whatever He revealed.” (An Najm/7-9)

Our prophet brought us three presents from Leylet-ul Mirac.

1. The divine promise that Allah (swt) will forgive and accept those into Jannah who didn’t attribute a partner to Allah (swt).
2. The last two ayahs of Suret-ul Bakara, beginning with Amenarrasulu. Allah (swt) revealed these two ayahs to Prophet Muhammed (sas) directly without The Angel between them.
3. Salah which we pray five times a day.

A night like this certainly should be benefited by performing salah and other duties.
In this holy night there is a special twelve rekah salah that’s advised to be prayed at Leylet-ul Mi’rac. You can get information about this salah from the Fazilah Calendar. We also need to repent to Allah (swt) and refuge to him by praying at this night. Our Prophet Muhammed (sas) expresses the importance of praying at this night with the following: “There is an award like a hundred years worship for who deeds sincerely tonight.” In addition it is advised to make the most out of Leylet-ul Mi’rac by praying Salat-ut Tasbeeh, repenting from our sins, making dua and seeking refuge from Allah (swt). It is also important to fast the day after. Prophet Muhammed (sas) says the following in a hadith: “Sawab of sixty years of fasting is given to who fasts in the twenty seventh day of Rajab al Shareef, namely the day after Leylet-ul Mi’rac.”

Salah is the mi’rac of a Mumin
